taking medicine - suggestions please

HI everyone my son usually like, well loves taking medicine. For the last 3 days he is having to take antibiotics which is orange favoured. He was ok taking it Monday night and Tuesday morning but by Tuesday eve he thought it was discusting and refused to take it. Today was impossible to get him to take it. I have tried usual spoon,bribery, syring, pinning him down. I am looking for suggestions and he has to take this medicine and I don;t particularly want a half an hour fight 4 times a day. Please help. Thanks x

Can you mix it with some yoghurt or something?

chocolate buttons, we have also mixed it into weetabix or porridge in the morning - my daughter hates any medicine in any form, and it's always a nightmare! Waiting to hear about urine results and probably antibiotics with dread as I know it will be a living mightmare

I don't know. I don't think so as it has to be taken on an empty stomach or 1 hour before food.

Jester have you used this method with antibiotics and meds that have to be taken on an empty stomach/an hour before food. It does make me wonder why the sudden change in my DS about this medicine. Poor thing. I hope your DC is ok.

Hi, so far only had to use it with calpol / piriton. Never had antibiotics before, the problem is if she getss too upset she makes herself sick, so if we go for it "straight" it involves about 30 minutes of reasoning, running away, and still potentially coughing it all back up! Good Luck

That is what DS is doing with this one. Throwing up and stuff. NOt good. Don't have any idea if he is getting what he needs and if I shall have enough to finish the course.

You don't say how old DS is? My DS (2.7) will take horrid medicine from a syringe (I use the chunky one that comes with nurofen) if I let him squirt it in his mouth himself
