sleep training

How do I stop DS1 from coming in DS2's room when I am in the middle of sleep training? He is bored by the time she is nearly asleep and comes in just to be difficult half the time stirring her up again. If I am in the room with DS2 it is only to sit in the chair near her if I have taken her back to bed a thousand times.

How old is DS1?

Depending on age, try:
Stairgate
Closing the door
Distraction with TV/favourite toy/nice snack
Bribery
If he's old enough, then perhaps even appealing to his sense of responsibility?! e.g. can you help mummy get DS2 to have a nice sleep by buggering off playing downstairs for 5 minutes, then mummy will have time to do XX with you? Never know, worth a go...

If all else fails, you might need to look at what kind of sleep training you are doing, and try an approach which doesn't mean you need to be in the room for very long each time you try and settle DS2.

Thanks lukewarmcupoftea, I might try some of those right away. Now we are off March break it will be easier with DS1 at school half the time. It shouldn't take so long to be in the room with DS2 and I feel so guilty that I am not with DS1. DS2 is sleeping through the night now though, 4 nights and counting so fingers crossed the day sleeps will get easier too.
