Fresh orange juice for my 6 month old?

I have a six month old baby who is getting constipated now he has started weaning. I tried cooled boiled water with a little fresh squeezed orange in which worked really well however... having looked on the net this can cause allergic reactions and be bad for them.

Is this true? really worried now.

Any help would be really appreciated.

Thanks Hatters

citrus is ok after 6 months so he should be fine unless you have a family history of allergies

Thanks I think there is information overload on the net!

what food is he eating?
bananas can be v constipating, also if he is having too many carbs (baby rice etc) and not enough veg

Diluted orange juice is fine from 6mo, try to only give it at meal times though, to avoid tooth decay.

He's having porridge and banana (already in porridge - organix) for breakfast, veg mainly for lunch but I recently tried a cow & gate jar some sort of bake and a steak combination from boots. Then a small amount of puree fruit for tea. He's only just gone on to tea as hasn't been weaning for long.

Thanks to all who have said orange is ok.
