am I worrying unnecessarily?

I am in a slight panic about this: I have a 1 year old (nearly) dd who has not peed today. In context, she is usually fairly wet in the morning (she was a little this morning, not as much as usual) but then has a BIG pee fairly soon after her first nappy change. She has not done one yet. We have all had a sickness bug; the last time she was sick (only 3 times over 2 days though) was yesterday evening, and since then I have breastfed her 5 times and she has had a fair bit of water this morning. She is a bit grizzly, but has no fever.

Should I be worried? It is always something that could drive me to panic as I was operated on aged 7 for bladder reflux following 5 years of UTI and constant antibiotics....I don't know if it's hereditary.

Please help.

Think I would give it a couple more hours then call NHS direct, with babies they normally make you an out of hours appointment with the on call GP, sure it's nothing to worry about but at least it would put your mind at rest.

how is her soft spot? A sunken one would indicate dehydration,

Are you using disp nappies a they are very absorbant, try weighing one in one hand and a "used" i=one in other, even a slight difference would suggest she has passed some urine

Thanks guys. Her soft spot seems ok, maybe a tiny bit dipped - I can't really tell and might be feeling things that aren't there! She's feeding again now and sleeping (has been doing a fair bit of that, but like I said, we've had a bug). We use cloth nappies, and the ones I use are really obvious when she has peed.

If she hasn't gone when she wakes, NHS direct it is. Fingers crossed.

any news?

Hi! She has been going reasonably ok, not loads, but it is flowing (so to speak...!), and not smelling so sharp now so I am just keeping an eye on it for the moment. She was more like her normal self at nursery today and eating a bit, too, so perhaps coming out the other end of this bug.

Thank you so much for thinking of asking.
