Want to learning an Asian language

What is the most commonly spoken Asian language in the UK? My DH thinks it's Urdu but I don't know. I would like to do a CD-based teach-yourself course now that I spend a lot of time in the car.

would you consider mandarin chinese.its not so difficult to pick up conversation on cd in the car but you would definately need help reading and writing
