My 16month old baby girl is biting already, is this normal?

very normal!

The best thing to do at her age though is to give her a firm NO and see if she repeats, if she does you can try giving her time out ( not hard naughty step stuff), but a travel cot/paly pen with no toys, when she bites again, say NO and put her in there for 2 minutes.

My dd is 2.1 and she recently started to bite after watching her cousin do it. I personally went for the 'scare her to death' approach . Lets just say she has never bit again...she does pretend though, as she thinks she can get away with it (which she cant and gets a firm 'NO, bitings naughty'). She also asks me to bite her (wierd child) to see if I will do it..which obviously I wouldnt and shes got the message bitings bad and not allowed. She will try and stick her finger in mine and her fathers mouth and say 'bite' ...doesnt work! lol.

My Nan on the other hand used to bite us back...which really hurt and stopped us ( but funny enough I actually love giving love bites to DP now )

My DS was about the same age. I reacted like an atom bomb and he was put in his cot while other babies continued to play in garden. Only for few minutes but that was the last time he bit someone....until last week!! Oh yes, 2 years 9 months - return of the knashers!

Chellesgirl · 08/03/2010 19:54

return of the knashers two...
haha whensmydayoff dd bit her friend today - first time since the first time it ever happened.

Clayphs · 08/03/2010 21:42

dd has not done it today, but she has certainly got a temper on her...awaiting terrible two's with anticipation!

its sooo much fun - i dont think my stress levels have been so high, Ive actually given up on shouting, instead whispering in her ear tends to work better
