Recommendations for absorbant inserts for BG v3 - Night time use

Hi all,

I have been getting on very well with my BGs, and now DS is sleeping a little longer at night and not pooing in the night, I'm thinking of getting some more absorbant inserts for overnight and was hoping for some recommendations.

I have just been using the microfibre inserts that come with the BGs so far, I use both together at night and they last about 6 hours without leakage. Do most inserts fit BGs? I have heard bamboo are supposed to be absorbant? How many would I need, given that they would only be used overnight and I wash every other day? (and presumably need longer drying time?)

Would be grateful for any guidance!

You could get some bamboo inserts from Jabula or Babybots - would put 2 in for good absorbency - of if a heavy wetter chuck a fleece soaker over the BG for total dryness - would recommend pumpkin pants.

I'd be interested in replies to this as my LO is currently waking lots of times throughout the night and I'm having to feed him a couple of times now which I wasn't doing before... this means lots more wee and now I've started to get leaks! Anyway, if your LO isn't a very heavy wetter, then what I am currently using was lasting 13 hours or so. I used a Little Weeds hemp insert underneath the BG inserts.

I use little weeds and love them - never have any issues. One is fine for me along with the fat bg insert in my bumgenius v3.
I don't think you'd need a fleece soaker over the bumgenius as the cover is waterproof so nothing can escape however if you find your LO is wetting through then perhaps this is a good idea.
Good luck!

EcoEarth bamboo night time pads are amazing! Take ages to dry, but what a fantastic night time booster!

Thanks all

Will look into all you've suggested. Will try out some boosters and then go onto the fleece soaker if I find he is wetting through!

I'm just keen not to have to change his nappy at all during the night (so will definitely go for some fleece liners to keep it dry next to his skin) as it wakes him and me up too much! Am glad that it seems he is not pooing at night anymore, it's been getting on for a week since a nighttime poo (he's 10 weeks tomorrow), is this likely to last?!

I use ellas house bumhuggers as a night nappy on my older dd, am intending to do the same with the new one when it arrives later this year! The hemp is nice and slim fitting, with a pocket to stuff with extra inserts. Will need a wrap with it.

you can use the new bum genius flip inserts in the regular bum genius ones (i actually prefer the flip lol)..they're only about £3.95 xx
