Please guide me through synthesis

I am halfway through a foundation degree in professional practice in the early years.
My marks vary between 53% and 71% but I am keen to do better. My average is 63% for the last 6 modules.
Tutor keeps banging on about synthesis.I have got my head around analyse and can compare and contrast.
So what do I do to synthesise then?
I just need a little nudge in the right direction

I think it means that you need to source information about the essay from differing perspectives/ points of view and use them to back up your writing.

Best thing to do would be to simply ask your Tutor..They won't mind in the least if you ask them for a specific example.

Good for you though

Well, you can't be going far wrong as those are pretty good marks

By synthesis, I assume your tutor is talking about pulling together different ideas/approaches from various sources in order to support your argument. It's hard to know exactly what your tutor is getting at without seeing an example though: does your tutor tend to pull you up on your conclusions, or is he/she making a more general point about the structure and content of your arguments?

Thanks for your replies. I have spoken to my tutor and I have got a study skills book.
This is all new territory for me as I left school in 1983 after O levels.
My tutor says that at the moment I am sitting on a commendation. If I can up my game then I am well in line for a distinction. I know it's only a foundation degree, but to do the top-up to a BA, I need to get an average of 50%. Then I can do the EYP or PGCE and earn myself more money.
