Ds's & myself sick, how do i manage g.p's??

Have to bring ds's 3.4 & 22months on my own to da g.p's this morning, lost my buggy other day so cant put either of my boys n buggy, so iv some how got to get the three of us examined without any melt downs! Ds1 HATES being examined i usually hav to hold onto him as he hits the doc away but im gona have both my boys to manage plus gettin myself checked out aswell what do i do? I played dress up yesterday and we pretended to be doctors which they enjoyed but when i said we have to go for real ds1 said straight away 'i dont want her to touch me, i dont like her' what can i do??

Tell the GP as soon as you get to the doc's that you're going to have difficulty managing this and why. Better still, tell the receptionist, as soon as you go in. Ask for help.

When my DS (twins) were at the buggy stage and we went to the GPs, you had to leave the buggy at the front area anyway and so I'd have to run around the whole time after each child (I'm a single mum with no family support/ present). It was difficult. When they had to have vaccinations, I'd leave one in the arms of a receptionist, take the other in, have him done, calm him down and then swop him for his twin bro.

Hope your GP and colleagues are amenable to helping. Surely they must realise how hard it is to manage two on your own and especially when they're sick and everyone feels tired, yukky and impatient.

Thank you solo i did warn as you said and the g.p was fantastic she had toys ready for them in her office they were so busy playing with the lego that i managed to get examined & she had a gr8 way with them ds1 even got examined without kickin or screamin like he was being attacked & even held open his mouth he has never ever been examined like that b4 & i was dead proud i really think its cause i had her warned & she broke the tension wit da toys b4 it cud build iykwim so thanks very much xxx

My mum's a GP and says she always gets a receptionist/nurse to help out if the kids are being difficult/she needs to talk to the parent about a health issue and not have the child interrupting She also has a wicked cool hamster thing dressed like a doctor that plays some inane tune all the kids love... so she gets them 'on her side' by spending some time playing with the doctor/hamster thing and is generally brill with kids.

What am I saying - go see my mum?! Probably - she is awesome... but more to the point, you will probably find that they will be more than happy to help you (if they are a decent surgery!) if only because it makes their job easier!

Out of curiosity (and totally irrelevant), how did you lose the buggy and how on earth can you manage with two such small children without one? When mine broke, I was totally stranded and had to go straight to argos and buy another!

Thanks guys, your mum sounds lovely 14hours ace im a dumbass thats how i lost it! I was parked in town, put ds1 in the car then took ds2 outa the buggy and put him in the car then hopped in myself and drove off went and did my grocery shopping and about 2 hrs l8r when i was unloadin my shoppin i went where da f is my buggy!! twas long gone by then had seen me thru both my boys but im stil sore about it only happened on tuesday!

Oh no ! I can't tell you how nearly I have done that so many times... Hope everyone's better soon and you get a nice new buggy!

PBM -- I went one better, took my child out and reversed over my buggy in the car park...
