I have a little boy who will be 2 in March, I do want another but not sure when. I have just got back into work and have started going to the gym and even get a social life. If I have another, my life will be on hold again for around 18 months. Am I being selfish?

well the longer you leave it the harder iot will be imo. I got pg again when DS was about 19/20months, we'd just started leaving him to go for a meal or whatever, could do jobs in the day with him 'helping', and i'm, looking forward to getting there again with #2!!

No. What's selfish about that?

The best time to have another one is when you and your DH/DP are ready and want to.

Not at all. You have another one when it is right for you and your family. I am 37weeks pg with DD2 and DD1 will be 4 in April. There is no way I could have contemplated a second child any earlier than this. Friends of mine have a 2 year age gap and it worked for them. I now feel ready for another baby and am glad I will have the time to spend with a newborn whilst DD is at pre-school.

DD1 was 3.8 when I got pregnant with DD2, which was the right time for us. Your DS is still only 1 - that's very early days!

If you don't feel ready, then wait. A big age gap can sometimes be better than a smaller one WRT jealousy etc.

And yes, age 1 is very early anyway
