I took my son to the dentist for the first time last week and to my horror the dentist has found that my son has to have a filling, I an quite reluctant as he still has all his baby teeth, any advice would be appreciated.

The only child I know who has had a filling in his baby teeth has an abnormality with his teeth, he has a healthy diet but all his teeth are decaying.

Did the dentist say why he thought it was necessary? could you go back and ask him why he feels it is necessary and ask him what has caused the decay.

i know that if the baby tooth is decaying it can affect the tooth growing underneath it so probably would be best to get it seen to

do you brush his teeth for him still? if not then maybe he still needs help brushing properly

Why were you horrified? My DD aged 5 had a filling last month because the enamel on a couple of her back baby teeth hasn't formed properly. No big deal.
