Baby in a taxi?

This is such a stupid question, but I have no idea how to get myself and DD who is 5 months to the airport. I don't want to take the carseat to New Zealand, but also don't want to pay for carparking for the entire 4 weeks we're there.
Is it illegal to travel in a taxi with the baby on your lap?

Nope. You do not need a car seat in a taxi.

However, if she has her own seat on the plane, you'll need one then.

it isn't illegal, but it's not that safe.
if you do do it then it is safer to have the baby in a lapbelt/seatbelt next to you rather than on your lap.

but ring around, some taxi firms havve car seats they can provide

If you are in a black cab then you push the buggy on and put the brakes on like a wheelchair would do - there is a strap as well but have never used it...
