DD1 hate toddlers - why do I go?

DD1 (2.7) and I have been going to a local toddlers group regularly for last 6 months or so. She enjoyed it initially but now says she doesn't want to go , clings to me for most of the time and asks to go home while we're there. It's a pretty normal,busy toddler group although there are quite a few boisterous 3 and 4-year-old boys. She doesn't have any friends that can go on the days I'm not at work. I enjoy going ( talking to other adults,enagaging brain, coffee etc) but I'm beginning to wonder if it's worth all the stress. She goes to a childminder 3 days a week and isn't really used to big groups like this ( although apparently adores toddlers with the childminder ).I can't help feeling that it's "good" for her to get used to being in a larger , nursery type setting. My question is do I keep going or give it up as she hates it so much?Hmm think I've answered my own question...

Have u asked why she hates going? Maybe if its because she's frightened of getting hurt by the boisterous boys, she can bring toys and sit near you and that way she might feel a bit more protected. She will have to get used to this when she goes to school, although this is a while off.

Stramash, my DD ia EXACTLY the same and i've started a few threads already about this as i've been tearing my hair out!! She goes to nusery one day a week and has done so for over a year now - they say she mixes well etc but whenever i take her to toddler groups she sticks to me like glue and pulls me around by the hand to whereever she wants to go. She's definitely happier in smaller groups and blissfully happy when its just her and one other child. I wondered whether it was worth it to keep going as she didnt seem to be getting anything out of it (i cant even speak to another mum without being pulled off in another direction) but i've continued to go. I work part time and have done so since she was 3 mths so its not as if she's used to having me with her all the time. My advice for what it worth is to carry on going and hopefull DD will get used to it (and hopefully my DD will too!!)
