Child car seats in New York?

In August we're going to New York for three days as part of our holiday. There will be four children on the trip aged 7, 4 and 2x2 year olds. We did this three years ago with just the older children and my SIL didn't bring any car seats as we just used a taxi to and from the docks and a couple of times in the city but now that one of the children is my own I'm not so sure about that

Anyway, the point of this long winded tale is what to do? There will be loads of us with loads of luggage as we're going on a ship so lugging a Priori XP is not a very appealing idea for not many journeys. I was vaguely thinking of the booster seat/rucksack thing that Trunki are bringing out. DD will be 2.7 so technically too young for it but it would be better than nothing?

What would you do/have you done? TIA

Its hard on holiday..... sometimes can book taxis from airports with car seats in whic solves problem a bit.

I used baby travel system car seats on holiday for longer than we used at home (up to 13kg).

I also have a britax ranger, which they don't do any more - was approved from 10kg when I bought it (very lightweight high back booster) which I used until could use booster cushion.

Also carry around a seat belt adjuster in my hangbag, just in case ever need taxi on holiday and don't have car seat.

Think the trunki booster seat sounds great - but agree that 2.7 years is borderline for use. I probably use it for shorter journeys but sit beside her to keep on checking the seat belt it in the right position and that she doesn't slump (ie fall asleep!) for a longer journey where sleeping inevitable would probably want something more substantial.

I wouldn't bother taking a seat if you are only taking a few cab rides
