Which pocket nappy is best for me?

I'm looking to buy some more pocket nappies so I have enough for DD and baby#2 when he/she arrives. As I'll be washing more nappies than I was when DD was little I've sadly decided to sell off my stash of Bamboozles (they will appear on the For Sale/Wanted board in the next week or so) for something quicker drying.

So... which ones? I have some Bumgenius V3 which I love and was initially thinking I would just get more of them but I'm wondering how long they will continue to fit DD.

DD is 11 months, 21lbs and is 75th centile for weight but only 9th centile for height - so basically she is a cute round pudding with thighs you wouldn't believe! She is on the biggest size setting already and can't see them fitting her through until potty training.

What are my best alternatives? I've heard the Wonderoos are quite generous, and also looked at the Fuzzi Bunz V2 which look ok but not sure about the fit.

I'm looking to spend between £10-£15/nappy so whilst I've heard good things about the Blueberry ones they are out of my price range. I want to buy new so that they are still in decent condition when baby#2 is ready for them. Thanks, any advice would be great

I like my Fuzzi Bunz one size because it has elastic that you can button tighter around the legs and you can do it up really tight over the tummy. And the flowers are cute.

Caen Do you know if they will fit bigger than the BG?

Mumgenius - you may be surprised by how long the BGs fit your DD. When they start running about they tend to slim down and elongate so most children will fit BG One Size until potty training. Are you just looking for a One Size pocket or would you be willing to considered sized nappies?

Ziggy I've just read something similar about them fitting for longer as baby changes shape but not sure if I should risk it IYSWIM, maybe I would be better assuming I will need bigger ones??

I've just been off reading every nappy site I could find and I've looked at the 'perfect size' sized Fuzzi Bunz, maybe I should consider those. Not sure which ones i would get though. Which sized pocket nappies would you recommend?

Maybe I should buy a handfull mre of my much loved BG V3 and then wait to see if she grows out of them. The Wonderoo seems to have very good reviews though so tempted to try them.

Ziggy Just had another thought - if I stuck to one size then I could use them with DD and baby#2, all I'd have to do is change the poppers if I needed to swap. Having them fit both DC's might be easier maybe??

I started off with Wonderoos and then got some Bumgenius as well. Both still fit my generously sized DD fine aged 21months (she's not been weighed for ages but was always between the 75th and 90th percentile!) I prefer the BG though as they are trimmer fitting for getting clothes over. Your DD will slim down when she starts to move around - honestly!
If you like BG stick with them is my advice.
I've got one Blueberry Minky pocket nappy which looks lovely (and was a free sample ) but I find it quite bulky and I think I need to boost it a bit as it's not really lasting that long now but as it's a big nappy anyway if I boost it it will be HUGE!

Smac Did you find that they started getting snug and then as DD changed they seemed to fit better again?

yes definitely!
I use Nature eco nappies for night time and holidays and in October I was gobsmacked that my niece who is 1 full year younger than DD, and also a bruiser, wears size 4 Nature nappies which is the same size we use!
I pass on DD's clothes to my SIL and she was ready for the 9-12 month stuff just before Christmas and I realised that DD was still wearing some of those size of trousers! She has really stretched up the way and is much less round now!

Mumgenius · 15/01/2010 15:26

Smac Thanks, that encouraging, maybe my BG will last to potty training - whenever that will be!

My only worry is investing money in a batch of them and then finding they don't fit and then having to by a bigger fitting nappy for the last stretch of nappyhood. That would be SO annoying! Mind you, I guess whatever I buy will do for both babies and so I'm still ahead of the game money-wise compared to disposables.

Shockingly, my DH and I worked out how much we would spend a week on disposables for both DD and baby#2 ad it was LOADS, couldn't believe it.

MG - not sure how long the Fuzzi Bunz last I'm afraid but DD is a skinny nine months amd still on one of the smallest settings.

Mumgenius · 15/01/2010 22:43

Caen Thanks anyway!
