Sleeping arrangements

We have decided to try for DC2 (yes I am getting ahead of myself lol) and have plenty of space in the house, but I think this causes more questions than if we were space limited.
The simplest place to put a baby (after short time in with us) would be in the room directly next door to DS (8yrs) but my concern is that the wall between rooms is paper thin and I would worry that the crying and me going in and out would keep DS awake too much. There are other options but it is a lot more hassle with furniture and decorating etc.
Opinions please...Would DS most likely sleep through it or would you advise a room further away as it is an option?
