Using public toilets when out with baby?

There may be a very simple answer to this question so I apologise in advance!

How do you manage to use public toilets if it's just you and baby? This only occurred to me last week when husband and I were out and I needed to use the facilities! So, what do you do given that you can't get a pram into a cubicle? Do you use the disabled and take pram in with you?

All these things I have to learn now that I'm a new mum!!!

Sling is good or pram in disabled cubicle as you suggest.

I try to find those family bathrooms or I use the disabled.

Or I hold it until I get home!!!

If there is an empty disabled toilet, and there is noone waiting, I use that. If i have to use a normal toilet, I use the one furthest down the row, and then if I am worried about leaving the door locked and baby outside, I leave the door open a crack (do the same in changing rooms). Noone can see you as you are at the end one and the door tends to open to the wall.

However, if I am out for a big shopping trip I tend to go to a big shopping mall and they normally have a big parent and baby toilet in the normal toilets (John Lewis, M&S and IKEA all do).

(Another thing you will find is how difficult it is to carry a tray of food whilst pushing a pushchair!!!!).

If all else fails, if it's a long corridor set of loos, go to the farthest, drive the buggy into the doorway and hope no one comes looking...

I use the disabled loo, or hangs head in shame, wee with the door slightly ajar so i can see the buggy.

When they get older it's easier as they will yell ''mamamamamamama'' when they can't see you - so you can close (but not lock) the door.

And you thought the show-your-fanjo-to-the-world days were over after birth!

either go to disabled toilet with buggy - often these have baby changing facilities in them anyway or head for mother and baby toilets / baby feeding areas which often have suitable toilets, or leave door open a bit with buggy outside.

I found it quite hard to go to the toilet wearing sling so actually that was harder for me than having a buggy.

Use the disabled. At our community centre that's where the baby change is anyway. Or hold on, or pee with the door open. No way would I leave the buggy outside the door with the child in it.
Or bring the baby in and lie her across your lap.

Seek out shops/malls with the snazzy parent & child loos. Our John Lewis has them (full-size loo and a little one next to it, all in a huge cubicle!)
