Teacher training..has anyone done the GTP?

I am hoping to apply as have 18mths experience of being a cover teacher/supervisor, and degree in the subject i wish to teach.
Anyone have any experience of this?

I am hoping to start the GTP soon (have been saying that since last summer); am just waiting to hear if I have been accepted onto the college course. I have been interviewed and offered a place at a local school subject to acceptance on the course.

I think you need to find a school willing to employ you for the duration of the course to start with, but I think some of the training consortiums and colleges may help you find a school with a vacancy in your chosen subject.

i was going to, but decided not to as i found out at the last minute it wasn't recognised in some places overseas (specifically where we live now lol).

if you are always planning to live in the uk, then as a qualification and a means of getting into teaching, it seems to be a reasonable method for mature candidates, particularly those, like you, that can prove relevant classroom experience.

will your current school keep you? two friends of mine accessed it this way. one is still at the same school and very happy, one found it enormously difficult and has moved on.

hi, no my school is too small to keep me on and help with my training. I am having to apply to places miiiiiles away!

not done it yet, but am considering. i have an interview in a fortnight for it.
i also applied to pgce as i can't decide which way to go! i have that interview in 10 days

to apply for gtp i have had to apply to the uni, i have to get through the interview for thm, then i will recieve a list of schools which offer places. i then choose from this list and apply to them direct
