hello everyone, I am new on here, My 4 week old is doing 150ml bottles (has been for 2 days now), I was wondering what is the norm? i.e. this seems alot? He also gets really hungry late in the evening, so instead of his usual routine of a bottle every 4 hours he has 2 bottles in 4 hours!!! Has any one else come across a similar thing where their baby is extra hungry at a certain time? Or have a 4 week old on 150ml?

thanks

Welcome to MN! It certainly seems alot (mine drank about 90 every 3 hours), but I don't think you should worry, every baby is different. I'd be more worried if your baby wasn't drinking enough...

Is he quite a big baby?

OP - my DS suddenly went from 30-40 ml feeds to well over 120ml feeds at ~6wo.
(couldn't keep up with him with expressing)

10wo is classic growth-spurt age.

all.... normal.........

i promise.

oh, and re-reading your OP - newborns cluster feed in the evening.

thanks for your responses, he is was born 7lb 13 ounce at 26weeks, so i guess he is not a small baby , and yes I am glad he is eating, rather that than not eating. take care

OMG he was 7lb 13 at 14 weeks premature?

PacificDogwood · 04/01/2010 23:21

Should that be 36 weeks, rather than 26, OP?

If not, !

If he was in fact a normal kind of weight at near term, then his feeding seems quite normal.

MissMarshon · 09/01/2010 15:21

apologies, yes i meant 36 weeks, (my brain constantly stays in bed all day whilst i am up).

thanks for your messages. He has calmed down a bit now.
