Student, children, and a PhD

Hello all,

I am new to these boards and we are waiting to try near the end of this year. At that point I will be done my heavy coursework and I'll be working on my finishing my thesis. Then comes the PhD. It consists of 10 courses, internships and a dissertation. I'm just freaked out about the perception of my professors if I do decide to start a family during that period. I'm in social sciences and I know that women in the PhD program have had kids before. I'm just wondering if you have general advice for me and what I should think about before starting a family and being in grad school.

Thanks in advance

Hi amla

I think this is the thread for you!

Good luck with your PhD

Are you from the US? Your PhD sounds different to the type I did - mine was purely research based and could fit well around children as I wasnt expected to be in certain lectures etc
