Tots Bots - leaking through the night

We're using Tots Bots Easyfit with our 12 week old (boy) but almost every night we have a middle of the night changing marathon - baby, bed,(and sometimes our bed if he's in with us!!!) the lot!

Despite using the insert the nappies are still leaking - usually at the side or back- after 3/4 hours.

Does anyone have any ideas/suggestions as to what we may be doing wrong? He's not a chubby baby, if that helps, more long and lean and we're using the poppers to make the nappy the smallest size.

Thanks in advance!

we use bumbles, and they were fine for dd1, but leaked nearly every night with dd2 - she was a bigger baby, so must have been drinking more and therefore weeing more.

in the end we used two inserts - one inside the nappy and one outside the nappy, but inside the wrap (obviously), so the second insert was neither inserted nor secured. that worked for us.

as did night weaning ha ha, but that was not achieved until 10 months... before then we also had to change her nappy asap in the morning too or there'd be trouble.

the insert outside the nappy was advice from thenappylady.com, it is less bulky, particularly for a smaller child than a second insert in the nappy. you could try looking on the nappy lady for other advice, they have all sorts of advice docs on there.

We use two-parters at night, wouldn't expect any all-in-one/pocket to last the night.

You could try any well-boosted fitted nappy plus wrap combination, which will probably work better than what you are currently using. Or you could go straight for the totally bomb-proof - something like a Wee Notions Night Notion, a Holden's Landing Bedbug, or a Baby Beehinds bamboo with a lovely, lush fleece or wool soaker/wrap/pair of longies or shorties on top.

Good advicefrom swampster - I'm a two parter too but to save money just put a fleece cover over your all in one - try Pumpkin Pants.

Ds was in totsbots bamboo overnight, when necessary boosted with a prefold in between the nappy and the (large) fleece wrap... it did mean that (particularly when he was a bit older) he was VERY bulky... but it did mean that he went through the night OK.

I agree - big bottomed!

My 8mo son who totally out-wees a disposable at night, has zero leaks with a Bumgenius v3! But I think it's all down to what you stuff it with - it would never do that with the microfibre inserts that come with it! I use half of a bamboo terry square (cut in half!) and a hemp Wonderfuls 2part insert (they come in some Wonderoos). And it's great - he's nice & dry in the morning, and no wet bed! ... and this is coming from someone who never thought a pocket could work as a night nappy! LOL
