Reassurance needed for 1st timer with poorly DD

Hi all

Just in need of some reassurance before i head off to the health visitors this afternoon.

My DD (7mths) has been running a temperature on and off since Sunday night, up to 38.9degrees. She doesn't have a temperature at mo but is very subdued and clingy with a bit of a cough - not my usual smiley indepedant girl.

Rang NHS direct last night and went through all the questions about rashes/ stiff necks ets, none of which she has

Just want to know that all this worry is the normal ugly side of parenting and will pass - we've had about a month of illness (coughs, colds, sickness bugs, teething) between us all and i think it's starting to take its toll on my confidence that we're all going to be alright!

Missed this, but I hope it went OK at the HV.

It is very wearing and worrying when there is a whole string of illnesses.

My DS was the same, constant colds, tummy bugs etc. It's upsetting when they become subdued and withdrawn and not themselves, I know what you mean. I think all you can do is remain vigilant and take your DD to the Docs when you feel she needs seeing.

You will all be alright

Yes, you'll be fine. If the Health Visitor hasn't helped, go to your GP or an NHS drop in clinic if they have one near you. It could be an ear infection - my DD suffered from a few when she was younger and the only symptoms she had was being clingy and a temperature. No pulling of ears or anything like that.

Thanks everyone - ended up in A&E on Tuesday night as she came up in a rash all over her body. thankfully it was just a virus and it's all pretty much gone now and we're getting a few smiles.
