text/play/story in very simple German?

Hi there. Can any German speakers/learners recommend me a text/story/play in very simple German for a beginners' class? (It shouldn't be too 'babyish'). Vielen Dank im voraus!

Ive spent a long time trying to find such a thing on the internet, but there is so little German learning material. The only dialogues that I have are in my Thames Teach Yourself German book.

The BBC did a series of German learning programs at one point, might they have some transcripts available?

Deutsch Direkt was the beginners BBC course I think.
