Hi all,

My DS has been sleeping really well for the past few months, usually settling between 7-8pm and sleeping untill 5-6am. He has been going the the teething phase and has 2 teeth already!!.
Just these past 4 days he has suddenly started wakening more throught the night, around 1-2am and then about 4am and 6am.
Has any one else noticed a change in their babys slepping pattern.
I have tried settling him but on 2 occasions iv fed him and then he has settled, soo he must be hungrey altho i am giving him solids now, maybe he is having a growing spurt again ha ha. He is a big baby and weighs 21lbs.

yes - my boys all did. Think it was needing more food to keep them full!

Yes, DS slept through from 5-7 months, and then went back to waking 2-3 times a night. Was horrible.

Wish I'd been stricter with him, and phased out the night feeds as he didn't sleep through again until he was 16mo!

Ha! Mine did.

I was feeling very smug as he had been sleeping 11-6 from about 6 weeks, was going 9-6 most nights by 5 months. He was a big baby as well.

Then it turned into a nightmare.
For about a month he was wide awake every night between 2 and 5am.

Then for the 2 months after that he would not fall asleep in the evening until after midnight (well occasionally napped 7-8pm then woke up).

I didn't do anything (except slowly become more and more demented with fatigue) - so no controlled crying or sleep training, he was in our bed anyway.

Then it stopped when he was about 9 months old and within a month he was sleeping 8-6 again.

Hope it doesn't last as long for you!

my dd2 is almost 6 months and she is waking at least twice a night at the moment. She was doing really well and able to settle herself back to sleep if she woke but now she just cries!! she is usually happy for us to put her dummy back in and then she goes back off but its a pain and the interupted sleep isnt doing me any favours!!

hope its just a phase for us both!!

Im not alone with this then anyhow which makes it a bit better.

I am trying to get him eating better, but not sure which is the best pattern bottle feed then offer him baby food, or feed an hour before offering it im just trying to find whats best for him, but i have noticed he isnt taking his bottle as much as he used to and is loving the food.
I guess its just a case of letting him feel content and then hopfully he will settle and sleep again.
Thanks for the comments.

Oh yes, I remember it well (yawns)....

Teeth, then an ear infection, then more teeth, then another ear infection, then the norovirus, then......

(cue near nervous breakdown from me at getting up 4-5 times pre night and then trying to do a day's work.....)

One all his ailments cleared up, dh had to do about 3 nights w some controlled crying (I took to the spare room with industrial earplugs...), and then all was well again.

Now we're in the "mummy, I dreamt of a bad man in my rocket" phase of things (continues to yawn....)

(sorry, ONCE all his ailments.....)
