Big girl bed

Hi, I would like your opinions! We recently moved my 2 year old to a big bed as her cot was looking small and not very cosy. How do people keep them in their room? I have heard to put a gate across the door but then how do you shut the door? Or can they be 'trained' to stay in their room? Do you put a lock on your door? HELP!!!

DD has been in a big bed for about 2 weeks and I'm not sure she realises she can actually get out yet. I have no intention of shutting the door or anything like that - aside from anything she can open it, so it's not much of a deterrent really! She's a good sleeper, so I'm just hoping night wanderings are going to be unusual!
