I am 14 weeks pregnant and already have a 4.5 year old DS. Does anyone have any advice on when to tell him, how to tell him, coping with behaviour?

Several friends of mine have said that when they told the eldest they were expecting the bedwetting and tantrums started!

Thanks

Hi, congratulations!

My ds was a bit younger than yours when I was expecting ds2 but if it helps, we tried to get him involved and excited about it. He saw the scan photos, we talked about having a brother or sister, how a lot of my time in the beginning would be taken up with the baby but that he would be able to help etc.

There's a lovely book called There's a house inside my mummy which helped explain the pg, being tired etc. It is a picture book but it might help ds understand a bit more?

Hope that helps!

Oh, and just to add, we didn't have any tantrums/bedwetting problems when we told him. There were a quite few moments after ds2 was born but making sure that ds1 had some one-to-one time with me or dh did help, though it took about 6/8 months for us all to settle fully
