Are Christmas trees and toddlers compatible

DS is 20 months and into everything - really want to get a lovely Christmas tree but suspect it won't last longer than an hour in our house before he's either pulled it down or swallowed a bauble. What does everyone else do?

WildSheep you obviously live in my house. We have an elc kitchen, a pink table and chairs and 6 Ikea storage boxes in our tree space. And the cupboard we stuck the tree on last year now houses the tv because the tv unit was ousted to make room for aforementioned storage boxes

I hate toys. What about one of those flat trees you stick on the wall?

My 22 month old ds was very keen on the tree and redecorated it most days.

I've always barricaded mine in between the sofa and the TV unit - not quite as nice, but prevents it falling over. Glass baubles up high, tacky shit made at playschoolbeautiful handmade decorations at the bottom

My SIL's dogs are more of a problem than the children, TBH, but that's because they try and hide underneath it.
