Keeping Baby cool in hot weather...

How do you do it? We're up in Scotland and it's very hot and humid (honest)! It's impossible to get my DS's room temperature below 25 degrees C (windows wide open, fan on..) and it's the same in every other room. Any advice?

think as long as youve got the fan circulating cool air and your little ones dressed accordingly(dd 2yrs) was in nappy and thin pj bottoms last night)..theres not much else you can do...just make sure plenty of water to drink.hth

awful isn't it? I remembered to close 3 month old DD's blinds and curtains this morning as her room gets the sun from about 11am until dusk but I left one window open just a tad by mistake.

Her room is 29! and 4 year old DS's room, which although doesn't get much sun, doesn't get any through breeze, is 28!
DD is in a vest, DS is wearing nothing and I'm just praying for it to cool down.

DS is wearing nothing but his nappy and has a light sheet over him. Has finally gone to sleep (an hour past his usual bed time...overtired and distressed naturally)

I really don't know whart can be done short of popping the freezer in there and leaving the door open!! Really feeling for you mums and babes down south, must be horrendous. [Hot and bothered emoticon]!

I know what you mean, i wont be able to sleep myself tonight in this heat, so no surprise i cant get the kids to sleep. Dear daughter has drank almost 2 pints of water in the last 1 1/2 hours and is still thirsty.

Mum down south here!! Have a vvvvvvvvv grumpy baby! Have the fan aimed at her head to keep her cool in her cot and we had lots of cool baths today, she hasn't worn more than a nappy and vest for 3 days! Great for the washing, not so good for her.
Went into the garden at 7pm and the thermometer was reading 86deg IN THE SHADE!! Poor babies, I do feel for them. We are a fickle lot though, we spend all year waiting for the sun to come out and then when it does we can't cope! How do they survive on the continent?

It's quite muggy up here in Edinburgh. Two baths a day in tepid water, keep curtains and blinds closed all day (but windows open) and fans on. Offer lots to drink.

DD was shattered from the heat and went right to sleep despite the long days. She HATES heat.

So do I. Hence, why I ditched Denver, CO and expatriated to Scotland.

I was advised to keep blinds, curtains AND windows closed expat because otherwise you're just letting in hot air/wind.
I do find it normally works with DD's room. Normally I open the windows wide at 7.30 when she gets up and by the time I close them all up again about 11 am it's a nice temperature. Just not this weekend though!!!

Hate the humidity! We went a brought one of them tower fans from argos (£25) and it follows us room to room. DS is just sleeping in nappy and vest, take him out in the evenings for a short walk and just try and relax in the house for most of the day.
