3yr old with leaking nappies waking us up every night...help!!

My nearly 3yr old wakes us up every single night because he is wet. His pyjamas are soaking, bedding has a big wet patch. Every single night we are woken up, have a bed swap round and one of us ends up changing his bed..it's driving us nuts!

He goes to bed at 8pm, we put a new nappy on him when we go to bed at 11pm and he usually wakes up at 2/3am wet.

We've tried pampers and pull ups. He does drink a HUGE amount everyday and we've tried limiting it but he goes nuts if he can't have a drink.

any ideas or suggestions?

try a different brand - tesco, asda etc. Also try a different shape eg tesco has a super fit which is narrow between the legs and a classic fit which, well .. isnt!! I found the classic always leaked.

Ask friends what they use and if you could have a couple to try them out to save buying a huge pack.

Also go up a size for night time. I use 4+ for day but 5 at night.

Put a bed mat on the bed and then just have to take that off and not remake the bed. If you dont want that double make the bed. Mattress + bedmat+ sheet + bedmat + sheet. Then if wets during the night just have to pull top layer off without remakeing the bed.

dd was like this sometimes, I used to put 2 nappies on her or I brought a washable waterproof nappy wrap and used this over her disposable nappy (she was in washable nappies in the day anyway - but she would never sleep in her washables).

Which type of pampers have you been using? i use superdry at night for DS1 who is a very heavy wetter. Active fit is fine during the day but leaks over night. Superdry lasts for a full 12hrs.

Asda's own version of Superdry are very good too.

I also second putting a bed mat on the bed (even under the sheet if he moves around loads) and layering it so you have pad, sheet, pad, sheet and then you just strip the top sheet & pad off and hey presto! you still have a freshly made up bed underneath.

I am having the same problem sometimes changing the bed twice in a night. A a friend suggested using the wraps with the plastic coating on that you use for the "real" fabric nappies.
I have just ordered one online and tried for the first time last night. Although it hasn't eliminated the leaking totally it has reduced it meaning his pyjamas are just a little damp and no wet sheet. It goes gape a little at the top, so I will try and find a better fit but had first full nights sleepin ages.

He uses the toilet potty during the day and we try to get him to do a wee before he goes to bed - although this is easier said than done most of the time & I try not to let him drink in the last hour before bedtime. But again this it's not always possible!
