my son is one in a few weeks. we are planning to "do something" but id rather not do it at home...
Is there any good activities that could pass as a bday party (dont care about cake) for half a dozen of one year old and a couple of under-3s in north London?
Any ideas welcome!!

Go to your nearest large electrical retailer and ask if you can have a very large cardboard box (think washing machine size). Sit back and watch the fun - I guarantee you will love it!

Is this for friends with LOs rather than family then? If so I would say you need a soft play place with a good baby area and decent coffee (and ideally which will let you take a cake in) and you need to do it mid-week (and not in half term) so that it is quiet.

..no idea on N. London - try Mumsnet Local and then check a few out, maybe?

Trip to Kentish Town City farm (free) - there is a hall there you could hire for after and fill with balloons, bubbles and some snacks for the kids.
