hey

basically my 4 week old always been very alert since she was born (never really slept during the day only at night)...she was a bf baby until las few days (we were really struggling with it, even though the first 3 weeks went perfectly) have switched her to formula even though trying desperately to get her back onto breast...right as i was saying she ahs always been very alert and for past few days she has been sleeping pretty much non stop...is this normal? is this down to being switched to formula or a growth spurt? have no idea what she weighs hasnt been weighed in 2 weeks....

opinions please

Hi,

I have a 10 week old, and she has 'sleepy days' sometimes. Had one on Monday and Tuesday in fact! As far as I know it's completely normal for both bf and ff babies.

Someone told me that they grow most while they are sleeping, so sleeping lots usually ties in with a growth spurt.

At 4 weeks, DD was still all over the shop! It does settle down though!

HTH,

Hiya,
Congratulations on your 4 week old!

I have heard that formula makes babies sleepy.

If you want to get back onto breastfeeding, speak to a local breastfeeding counsellor and/or visit your local support group

You might find you get more answers if you post this question on the breast/bottle feeding topic.

Good luck!
