I saw a debate about this subject on T.V this morning & I was just wondering what other MNs thought?

A couple of yrs ago I bought my Ds a toy kitchen & a doll with a buggy as a christmas present, I remember at the time my family & friends having a lot to say about whether it was a good or bad thing to buy a boy 'girls toys'.

Ds was 4 at the time & already playing with these toys by choice at nursery.Whenever anyone questioned me I would say that he had to "learn to be a good Daddy some How!!" (i'm a single parent). However now I think about it perhaps I meant "be a good partner"
Someone whose not afraid to help with household jobs or childcare.

What do you think can you teach a child to be the perfect partner & what things would you teach them??

Nothing wrong with boys playing with 'girls' toys.

You can't teach a child to be the perfect partner as that will depend on who they get together with.

You can teach them love and respect.

Surely being a good father/mother/partner is just an extentsion of being a good person?

It would not cross my mind to teach them aything extra specifically because they may some day have an other half. THey need to learn to be a good person, get that right and they will be a good anything, simply because they are a good person already IMO.
