Mine are like chalk and cheese, first was and still is shy, laidback, ect, 2nd is like the tazmanian devil!

nowwearefour · 04/10/2009 20:57

my experience is more like sugardumpling's than the one you describe sally, sorry! they are v different and if the second had come first i may not have had another! but still really enjoying watching them interract together etc. hard work but so worth it....

Hassled · 04/10/2009 21:00

All 4 of mine are completely different. I'd say DC1 and DC3 were harder work as babies, DC2 and DC4 harder work as toddlers. Now they're all older (oldest is 22), they're nothing like each other. Each comes with their own set of things to fret about .

dd1 very sweet, caring and predictable in her behaviour

dd2 well................

JackBauWooohooohoowaaer · 04/10/2009 21:08

DD1 very placid, compliant, bit shy, complete daddy's girl.

DD2 self sufficient, climber/escapologist, stubborn, mummy's girl.

angrypixie · 04/10/2009 21:13

DD1 Intense, mature, emotional, clever.
DS1 Class clown, sunny, sociable, laid back
DS2 A mix of both clever, demanding, sociable, funny

All so different but each one occupying the perfect space in the family.

PacificDogwood · 04/10/2009 21:14

DS1 - baby from hell, v short fuse (still, now 6), v bright, scaredy cat.
DS2 - much more laid back, v cheeky, v physicially advendurous.
DS3 - v lively, currently hard work as going through temper tantrum stage, but great fun.
DS4 - who knows ? - due March 10

It is just lovely to watch them interact with each other. It'll be fine whatever personality your LO will turn out to have.

nappyzonecantrunfortoffee · 04/10/2009 21:14

dd as a baby was chilled, easy, a dream sleeper and as turning 6 is now full of it - lovely and polite but more hyper and ratty at the same time. DS as a baby was a nightmare - hard to settle, not chilled, not laid back and at 2 is like a whirlwind coinciding with his big ssters whirl wind phase - he has mega tantrums too and also if was first we probably wouldnt have had any others. That said he is so loving and a complete mammys boy. I am looking fwd to his calmer years.

sandyballs · 04/10/2009 21:18

Very very different and they are twins, albeit non-identical. DT1 very loving, laid back, go with the flow sort of girl. DT2 very stroppy, hot headed, impulsive.

Fleecy · 04/10/2009 21:30

DD was not an easy baby - when DS arrived he was the stereotypical 2nd child, slept well, fed well, no trouble at all.

DD is now 3 and a well-behaved, easy-going little girl. DS is 18mo, into everything, can't take your eyes off him for a second. He is fearless! So you might get an easy baby but it's no guarantee they'll stay that way

Lizzylou · 04/10/2009 21:34

Very different, 2 boys, 2 years apart, look very similar.
BUT very different temperaments/personalities.
DS1 walked at 11mths, DS2 was 15mths
DS1 didn't really speak much until he was 2 (and DS2 appeared ), DS2 was speaking in sentences at 15/16mths.
DS1 is very active always on the go, DS2 will sit and play for hours.

DS2 is a lot quicker tempered and more stubborn than laid back DS1.

Both were great babies though

FernieB · 05/10/2009 11:08

DT1 - organised, tidy, cheeky, stubborn, arty, helpful
DT2 - confident, messy, easy-going, giggly, lazy

whensmydayoff · 06/10/2009 16:37

DS1 Difficult baby, now - smile for everyone, loves people, can go from calm, laid back to hyperactive and moody in seconds, real Jekyl and Hyde. Great sleeper, good eater (2.4)
DC2 Perfect, never hear a peep, no trouble at all (still in tummy) !
Im so watching this thread with fear though!

snorkie · 06/10/2009 18:16

completely different in looks and temperament - sometimes I think their personalities polarise on purpose. The world would be a boring place if we all produced clones.

paranoidmother · 06/10/2009 18:25

DD1 - Slept well, day dreamer, loud, likes to not listen, takes ages to be polite and a drama queen
DS1 - Didn't sleep well, charmer, polite, not a drama queen, knows how to get round everyone.

ShellingPeas · 06/10/2009 20:02

Complete opposites in just about every way.

DS - dark haired, dark eyed, very fine boned and delicate build. Hideous baby - screamed constantly for 9 months, but now a lovely, quiet and gentle 10 yr old, very bright, articulate and adores maths, science and learning.

DD - blond, blue-eyed, tall and robust build. Lovely baby, slept lots, smiled at everyone, but manic toddler, very accident prone. Adores people, loves to talk, but not academically minded at all!
