2yo constantly pooing and has vicious nappy rash

DS red and sore when changed pooey nappy y'day morning. First rash for a year at least.

Took him out of washables, put him in dispys, have tried Metanium, Canestan and now Sudocrem but he pooed every hour or couple of hours - some a bit yellowy or green - and every one made the rash hurt.

Has had three pooey nappies today already and rash still bad. Not improving because it's constantly irritated, I guess?

He's actually sobbing and saying No No when we change his nappy, which is making DH and I feel absolutely sick with guilt, but what can we do?

Should we get him to the dr? He's quite cheerful and normal otherwise.

He could have a thrush infection.
To tell the truth, I would try massive amounts of air time (putting up with the resultant mess), or put him in pants and no trousers for the time being (and also putting up with the resultant mess).

And if you can't do that, see doc who may be able to prescribe a cream.

Agree iijkk. Get the nappies off. If you have rooms without carpets, great. If not, put loose pants on and nothing else and get him to sit on a potty (just for fun, no presure). Take him to toilet with you too if you don't already as it makes them interested in potty training.
Quicker he is out of nappies the better as they can get awful rashes as they get older.
He may have a tummy upset but his wee bum needs air.x

Sudocream is good at protecting, use both

but just air and no cream when out of nappies - Im finished now, honest!

DS had something similar when he was about 6 montsh old. Hideous nappy rash. Lots of small red spots. I couldnt get an appointment with GP so got a thrush cream from the chemist (canesten?). I checked symptoms with the chemist first. He was better within 48 hours (rash wise). He also had horrid poo at the time which cleared up after a few days as well. I also used metanium between canesten applications as its glupey and leaves a barrier between the poo and the skin. Washed his bottom with cool water and cotton wool rather than wipes and gently pat dried with a very soft towel. I also kept his nappy off as much as possible.

Do you use baby wipes? If yes then I'd switch to cotton wool/flannels and water.
