Does anyone know about mama packs - kind of eco friendly version of bounty (yuk) - I saw them on a site called the NappyShed - has anyone ever had one? We never got bounty packs here as our hosp refused to have them but these look much nicer. They do trial kits aswell by post which is good for people who don't have a county incentive scheme.

DS1 is home with sickness bug which is a bit yak - has just asked for food which I suppose is a good sign but he couldn't keep down water this morning

LittlePants · 06/10/2009 11:54

Yes. Mama packs are an offshoot from Wahm.co.uk, who host my shop. The biggest problem is getting people to distribute them, as distributers have to order them by the pallet, and the P&P charge for a pallet is about £125 I think. It would be lovely to think you could get them in hospitals, like Bounty packs, but the NHS don't have the money nor the inclination to distribute, and small businesses don't have the money to pay the shipping costs! Not sure about current distributors though

I have woolies on the way but they might not be ready for a few weeks so probably too late for you. They are all being WAHM knitted so don't have an exact time scale. From 3 different WAHMs though so should arrive at different times.

Wow!! The Nappy Shed is me - and the site only went live yesterday. And thankyou to Octo for mentioning the Mamapacks because someone from on here has contacted me already about them (but it's a real name so I don't know who you are on here!)

I've still got lots more things that I want to do with the site, but I've got nappy trials, newborn teeny tiny nappies, secondhand nappies and Mamapacks of course, which are a bit different from other nappy websites - or at least I'm hoping so!

So anyway - mumsnetters are wonderful - someone contacting me so soon - you've really boosted my spirits after lots of hard work!!!

Littlepants - yes we have to pay the delivery of the Mamapacks. I am desperately trying to think of ways that they could be given away, but as they cost me just over £3.00 each I am selling them on at that cost. If anyone has any bright ideas I'd love to hear them. The contents are definitely worth more than £3.00, but they're just so much nicer than Bounty packs. They also contain the Child Benefit forms so we could actually get people turning down the Bounty packs, which would be just great!

Octothechildherder · 06/10/2009 12:25

I think for £3 they would be a great buy/add on for mums to be - esp if the provide a range eco friendly goods.

purplesal · 06/10/2009 12:28

Yes but how can we get them into all antenatal classes or booking in packs or delivery suites, so that everyone has access to them, instead of just the people who happen to see them on my website, or another distributors website?

Mamapacks would like them to be given away, but it's not really feasible as far as I can tell.

Sallys site is of the uk variety so does not have the com at the end.

purplesal · 06/10/2009 12:45

It definitely works if you type the full address into the address bar - have you tried that? It just does't work if you try to search for it.

Oh and purplesal - looked at your site last night and thougt it was fab! Love the name. Well done.

purplesal · 06/10/2009 13:34

mumface - whoops that should be 10 fleece liners +£8.00 and 20 fleece liners +£17.00

Will go and change it, thankyou for noticing.

JennyPennyNAPPYWEB · 06/10/2009 14:35

Why was my post deleted? It is very random as to what gets deleted and what doesn't!

I don't understand, why can I, for example, link to a nappy on Mothercares website but not on say babybots or nappywardrobe? Just because the seller is also on here . I can completly understand when we link to own OWN site but each others?

purplesal · 06/10/2009 14:45

It does seem a bit strange. One of the posts by mumface was specifically asking for the name of the site. Surely people are then allowed to answer her?

Otherwise there is no point in suggesting nappies as you can't point people in the right direction of finding them.

Is there someone from mumsnet who could come on and explain exactly what is and isn't allowed, and why some posts are deleted and others aren't?

LittlePants · 06/10/2009 14:49

purplesal "whoops that should be 10 fleece liners +£8.00 and 20 fleece liners +£17.00" that still means it's cheaper to buy 2 x 10 than 20 together! Not doing a Tesco are you?!!

Octothechildherder · 06/10/2009 15:07

lol she's right purplesal!

mumface · 06/10/2009 15:45

OOh my first deletion - I do feel naughty (will never ask naughty questions again)
You have to consider the initial £1 each for liners then +£8 so in fact £9 for 10 etc.
