Top Bunk - How Old Does Child Have to Be?

Am thinking of moving my two DDs in to the same room. Tried it when they were younger and it was a disaster but they are now 5 and nearly 3 so hopefully may settle better.
Does anyone know how old a child should be before they sleep in a top bunk?
Also any advice about bunks or siblings sharing in general would be appreciated!
It is basically bunk beds or we have to move house when DC3 arrives!
Thanks.

I think it all depends on the child TBH

DD1 was 4 and half, DD2 3 when they went into bunks.

We had RULES, no jumping on the beds, no swinging on the bars, one person at a time on the ladders, they have been fine so far, they love their bunks and love sharing even if we got a bigger house I think they would chose to share now (teenage years may prove me wrong)

DD2 falls asleep straight away, DD1 can read and sing for a bit without disturbing her

general view seems to be from about 5 or 6.

My two were 4.5 and 3 yrs too. Have rules and they will be fine

mine were all 3 ok from 4 on the top bunk. We had strict rules about jumping, and an alternative place for permitted bouncing. they were sensible enough. noone ever fell out.

Thank you. I think they would be OK with rules as suggested. DD1 is very sensible but also a little timid. She might take a little time to get used to it. DD2 would be swinging from the top bunk if allowed. Just found a pink bunk bed so that make up for losing their own room!

My DS2 is 3.4 and is not going near a top bunk for a long time. That's just him though .

DD2 was fine about losing her room, they both chose their own new duvet covers and we made a big thing about the little room being for babies and having a big girl room. She moved in with DD1 about 4 months before DD3 moved into the little room. Also made a big thing about her helping move all her toys across too. Oh they both chose a new plaque for the door too.

Often we go up and they are snuggled up in the one bed
