Dd (7) learnt the term 'chav' today. Should I ban it?

its a normal part of kirs speak - unfortunately - there was a time when i hated hated hated it.

i still try not to ue it myself. - but its become a total average norm

Yup, ban it. She's old enough to know that it is a value-laden unpleasant word.

I tell mine that there are certain words which I do not want to hear them use. Chav is one of them. If I accepted anything that is a normal part of kids speak round here, I'd have to listen to some pretty offensive language. We get a lot worse.
