NEW YEARS EVE IDEAS

Not sure if anyone has posted a similar thread before but was wondering if anyone had any ideas of things to do on New Years Eve.

I have 2 children who are 4 and 9 months so going out is not really an option. Just wanted to see the new year in somehow. We are also on a budget so any cheap ideas welcome.

have friends over, nibbles havent got to cost that much and the ages of the children they would probably sleep through it.

tell your guests to bring a bottle

Invite some friends round for dinner, get them to bring a starter/pudding?

You could even theme it -we had a Mexican New Year with friends a few years ago, lots of Tequilla consumed there I can tell you!

Thats what we were thinking but our house is quite small so would be a bit cramped. Also, dont know if taxi firms take families home without car seats etc.

Can friends stay over? Walk home?

We've done the staying over thing here and at friends and OK, it can be cramped (eg.2 adults and 2 children per bedroom) but its only for 1 night.

we always get together with a couple of other families for a dinner party. Each couple provides a course and a bottle or 2.

Put DC to bed, or as they get older they have their own party upstairs with crisps, dvds etc., with sleeping bags ready for when/if they drop off. When little we crammed DC into pushchairs to walk home, when older they relished the walk home at 2am having stayed up to see the new year in - a big treat as usually in bed for 7pm!

If have friends with enough rooms/floor space, is fun for everyone to stay over and have brunch the following day too.

Does sound fun but as we have quite a large bunch of friends it would be hard to accomodate all of them and feelings would get hurt if we only invited a few.

Has any one hired a cottage or gone to Butlins/Centre Parcs? Are these things really over priced?
