My eight year old daughter wants a penfriend

My eight year old daughter would love a penfriend (or two). Looking on the internet many sites seem a bit seedy. Does anyone know any sites/companies (does not have to be online) which would be suitable for an eight year old. Whatever, I have told her I will have to have a quick look at letters coming and going.

Bumping as I would also be interested in this. We live in France and my ds(9) doesn't have a huge pool of friends as we live in a very rural area. He loves writing letters to people so it would be lovely if he could write to others around the world.

Sorry for the thread hijack Madmog.

My ex-charge (8) is also in France and was desperate for a penfriend. Also keeping an eye on this for him!

My 9 year old daughters would also be interested - we're currently in Germany.

Perhaps we should get our kids to write to each other .

My DD's (age 8) handwriting is of the drunken spider variety, but she might be interested.

Mine too has very poor handwriting. We're in Switzerland if anybody is interested.

SingleMum01 · 20/09/2009 15:15

I'd be interested too. My DS 7 struggles with writing, so he wouldn't write much and it wouldn't be easy to understand, but he'd like to give it a go and it may help improve.

Bumping to see if anyone knows of any good penfriend organisations.

My 2 DDs would love penpals, they are aged 9 & & 7, email me if you would like to set something up. We are in Scotland btw.

This is funny. My DS who is also 8 said to me in the school holidays he would like a penfriend. I had a look on the internet and tried to apply to one of the organisations - DH said when we were doing it that he didn't think the paypal for the fee had gone through properly - and I am hoping now that it didn't - as we haven't heard anything at all.

I had actually been thinking of posting on here to see if anybody had a DS 7-9 who would be interested in writing to my DS - his writing isn't brilliant - and normally he has to be pushed into doing his writing practice which is why I thought a penfriend would be such a good idea for him.

I think DS would rather it was a boy that he wrote to.

So - I'm also interested in penfriend organisations but also if anybody's DS would like to write to mine.

Bunjes and singlemum01 - if your boys would be interested in writing to mine I'll give you my email.

SingleMum01 · 21/09/2009 18:40

applepudding - my DS will give it a go - can't promise easy readable handwriting and it will only be a few lines (he's just started year 2) - but happy to try it!

applepudding · 21/09/2009 19:23

My email is [email protected]

I'm very embarrassed. I've put my ds down as being 9 when in fact he's 10 . From his pov he would prefer to write to kids who are at least his age or older.

mathanxiety · 22/09/2009 18:18

DD (8) is interested. My e-mail is [email protected]. We're in the US.

Anyone have boys aged 10 or older into football, yu-gi-oh and computer games?
