I just say "We'll see" dd wanted one, she has a baby bro, she still wants a baby sister

I wanted a baby sister, i got over it

My dd is desparate for a baby brother but there is no chance as I have not got the bits any more. I bought her a baby doll and she plays with it constantly.

It is painful to see and I wince when I see pregnant people/babies/shops selling baby clothes/ttc threads etc. I just have to grin and bear it.

You still have hope which can be even more hurtful I know.

my dd is 4 and keeps talking about having siblings, she names them, she pretends other younger children are her brother/ sister.
she tells me to get pregnant and put a baby in my tummy

truth is I have miscarried twice since having her and 3x before she was born and at 40 now I really have to move on from this grief

so I tell her I understand her wishes, that she has lots of friends and family but that having siblings is unlikely, that sometimes it is not possible, but I do keep it short and light

be careful not to project your upset on her, she is likely to just want to be like her friends with siblings, it is only natural, but I expect she does not fully understand what it implies imo

but it is sometimes quite hard and you surely have my sympathy

That's OK Dilemma, I was just trying to say I feel your pain. I know lots of people who have had good news after years of trying, but trying in itself can be very painful.

I agree with sfxmum, your dd will not be suffering the lack of a sibling as much as you are. And there are a lot of advantages to being an only child you know.

It is hard to hear them asking about this especially when you would like nothing more than to comply! Since youa are still ttc, I would personally say something like - yes, we also hope to have another baby but it might take a while (or a long time - since a week can be a long time to a preschooler!) and sometimes it just doesn't happen.

Dd is 4 and asked about this again last week after starting reception and seeing all the other siblings coming to achool. I told her I also wished we could have another baby and we did try but the doctors have told me it isn't possible. I did let her know I was sad about that - because it's the truth. But then I don't won't to go on and on about it either.

Dd also talks a lot about having a baby of her own - maybe when she's 6!
