I'd like to give her something nicer than another stupid barbie or polly pocket. Any ideas?

two weeks ago it was my dd's 5th birthday, because she's such a tomboy is really hard to find something that she'll like but we got her the silvanian family gypsy caravan and the rabbit family and she loves it

bigdonna · 31/05/2005 08:57

my dd has been playing with playmobil since she was 4.5.we have slowly collected it for xmas she got the modern house she is now playing with it at this moment!.you can buy lots of playmobil on ebay at good prices.hoping you find her something nice my dd 6 this year got a bike .

sansouci · 31/05/2005 11:26

We thought we'd give her a bike when she's 6. The doll houses are a great idea, although she already has the mini baby born house... is my dd spoiled or what?!

SANSOUCI,before my dd could have the playmobil house she had to get rid of three other dolls houses, barbies, fisher price, and three disney castles.so we had some room to put it.i dont think my dd is spoilt !.she enjoys giving toys to other kids that we have grown out of.if that is what she would play with then why shouldnt she have 2.i think we have nearly every piece of playmobil.

My dd was 5 this weekend.
We got her a bike but it is a bit big for her so will have to go back for stabilisers to stop serious injury until she grown into it a bit.
Also got her a paddling pool.
My parents got her roller skates which was the other thing she asked for.
I didn't want to get her more dolly things with tiny bits as they're a nightmare with a crawling baby brother (mean mummy aren't I?).

sansouci · 31/05/2005 12:29

Bigdonna, it's just that my dd has so many toys, books, clothes, you name it! I cringe at the idea of buying her more but what's a mummy to do?

Sponge, dd has a crawling baby brother, too. He should be walking at 21 months but is very stubborn. He also loves to eat all the little bits that come with barbie, polly pocket, etc. Dd wanted rollerskates but I insisted she had some in a box somewhere & eventually we found them. Fisher-Price ones. They seem fine but as I was saying, this child has too many things already. From doting maternal grandparents, especially. She is their only granddaughter & they adore her (yuck, sometimes!). They love ds but not in the same way, poor little fellow. But dh, dd & I love him to bits! Anyway, back to the topic...

Thanks, both of you, btw!

I'd get her what she wants not what you want to buy. We have plenty of wasted toys that I assumed she would want like a dolls house and Baby Annabell with all her accessories. She just wants to play with plastic ponies, tiny dogs and cats and Playmobil. My DD loves her Bratz but doesn't play with them very often, she loves colouring, drawing and writing mostly. She is 6 BTW.

Why not take some of the old stuff to the bootsale to clear out for the next wave of presents?

sansouci · 31/05/2005 12:39

Good idea about the car boot sales, 2nd hand. When asked, dd says she wants a car for her Baby Born (!), barbie magic castle (groan -- more sick-pink plastic), bratz (no way), world peace, etc.
