Can you use medium inserts with large Itti Bitti's?

Just curious - I have 5 Itti's and 5 extra additional inserts in medium, is it possible to use these medium inserts in a large nappy or would they just not fit?

The poppers are in the same place and there isn't much difference in size, i know as it takes ages to sort dd3's larges from dd4's mediums
