Did anyone have a big baby boy and go on to have an even bigger baby girl?

Sorry, I know 'Pregnancy' is the right section for this but I can't get on to it for some reason. So posted here.
I'm 31 weeks pregnant and just trying to guess what I may be having. DS was 9,4 at birth and the midwives say this baby could be big as well, maybe bigger than DS. Plus I'm much bigger than I was with DS. Does this more than likely mean I'm having another boy, or is there a chance I could be having a girl?
I'm just wondering - I'll be delighted either way.

Not huge but DS was 8lb14, DD was 9lb 5

DTW's - DD2 - 7lb8 DD3 - 6lb8

though my friend was told she was carrying a large baby (her third) and he was 6lb8 - smaller than the others - in my experience i was bigger with the subsequent pregnancies as my tummy muscles just gave up -

My boy was the runt of my litter, coming in at more than 1lb lighter than the lightest girl.

DS was 9lb and DD was 9 2 but she was just fat! Seriously, she looked smaller than DS and has now slimmed down

PleaseDeleteMeLetmeGo · 24/08/2009 20:22

ds2 was 9, 8 at 7 days late

dd was 10lbs and 4 days late.

princessx2 · 24/08/2009 20:35

I had two daughters - the first was 10lb 6oz and second was 9lb 1oz - I expected second baby to be bigger! Both times they said 8lb babies in there!

MrsMattie · 24/08/2009 20:40

1st baby - DS was 10 lbs 2 oz

2nd baby - DD was 7 lbs 2 oz

Mind you, DS was born at 42+5 and DD at 38 wks, so perhaps she would have been a bruiser too if she'd been cooked as long...

MrsMattie · 24/08/2009 20:41

Oh, and I waqs told Ds was about '8 or 9 lbs' and DD was around 8 lbs. Wrong both times, then!

MrsJamin · 24/08/2009 20:53

My sister (Picante) had a 9lb boy then last week had a 10lb 7oz girl! So yes it could happen to you!

puffylovett · 24/08/2009 20:56

I'll let you know in a few weeks !

Another one who was told small baby, then birthed a nearly 9lber. Hoping for a 6lb sleeper this time around

LightningBolt · 24/08/2009 20:58

Not hugely massive but ds was 8lb 5 and dd 9lb 3.

dizzydixies · 24/08/2009 21:00

I was 10lb4 with DD1, then DD2 was 11lb 1oz and finally DD3 was 9lb 14oz bless her

please don't worry about it, there's nothing you can do

pinknosedevereux · 24/08/2009 21:02

Hm My son was 9lb3oz followed by daughter 9lb13oz so size really is no indication of sex.
Also when people talk about ds i gather they don't mean the kind made by nintendo, so could someone please explain?

pinknosedevereux · 24/08/2009 21:05

oops, just found explaination of abbrieviations-certainly did not wish to offend anyone. Sorry

Ds was 10lb 4oz C-Section
dd was 7lb 11oz VBAC

I had a growth scan with dd to make sure she wasn't as big so knew she was going to be smaller.

Claire2009 · 24/08/2009 22:00

DD (1st) 8.4
DS (2nd) 9.4

peppapighastakenovermylife · 24/08/2009 23:29

DS (1st) 7.7
DD (2nd) 8.13

I had a smaller bump with DD - they estimated a 6 lb baby

Heated · 24/08/2009 23:32

Bumps same size
DS1 8lb 2
DD 8lb 10 but much easier to pop out

OurLadyOfPerpetualSupper · 24/08/2009 23:53

DS1 10lb 5oz;
DD 11lb 12oz;
DS2 a mere 8lb 10oz.

I had a neater bump with DD, but was swollen all over with DS1 and half a stone heavier.

By the time I was having DS2 I'd given up sugar which I'm sure made a difference to his weight.

NotanOtter · 24/08/2009 23:58

peppa i am with you

ds 7 10
dd tiny bump growth scans estimate 6lbs ..8lbs 8

Gateau · 25/08/2009 09:19

Blimey, some big girl babies on here!!
Not worried about it at all; am just wondering whether I'm having a boy or girl!

I don't think that I've ever heard that girls shouldn't be bigger than boys?

Dd1 - 9lb12 at 4 days early
Ds - 9lb3 at 10 days early
Dd2 7lb15 at 3 weeks early.

So for me I think that gestation was more important than gender.
