What songs (with actions) do you sing to your DC?

Hi,
I have a DS 3.5yrs and a DD 17mths and at some point during most days we end up singing songs that have actions to them, ie The wheels on the bus, but I'm getting a bit fed up with singing the same couple of songs that we know over and over.

So far we have.
The wheels on the bus.
Wind the bobbin up.
This is the way we wash our hands.
I am the music man.

Any idea's?

Zoom Zoom Zoom, We're Going to the Moon. (Make rocket shape with tented fingers then lift the child in the air after the countdown).

Sleeping Bunnies

Dingle Dangle Scarecrow

jkklpu · 14/08/2009 22:55

that's what I was going to say
if you're happy and you know it?
the grand old duke of York?
the hokey cokey?
my ds1 (nearly 4) also sings a funny one from nursery about little aliens in a spaceship looking out at the Earth, but can't quite remember it (as you can tell)

GwarchodwrPlant · 14/08/2009 22:55

Horsey horsey don't you stop,
Just let your feet go clippety-clop
your tail goes swish
and your wheels go round
giddy-up we're homeward bound

two little dicky birds

brimfull · 14/08/2009 22:55

my ds loves 'say say oh playmate'

and 'miss mary mac mac mac'

Mousey84 · 14/08/2009 22:56

the elephant (goes like this and that...)
if you're happy and you know it
miss polly had a dolly
grand old duke of york
dunno title, but it goes "when i was one I had some fun/ate a bun/something to rhyme with one.. the day I went to sea, I climbed aboard the pirate ship (climb a ladder) and the captain said to me we're goin' this way, that way, forwards and backwards(lean left, lean right, forwards, backwards), over the Irish sea. A bottle of rum (drink sign) to fill my tum (point to belly) and thats the life for me" etc etc. Not sure why pirates are on the irish sea, or if we should be encouraging kids to drink rum, but my dd and my mindees love it.

ExtraFancy · 14/08/2009 23:02

3 little speckled frogs
3 little men in a flying saucer
Miss polly had a dolly (DS's favourite - he asks for it by doing the 'wrote on a paper for a pill' action)
Horsey Horsey
Incy wincy spider
If you're happy and you know it.

jkklpu · 14/08/2009 23:02

Mousey - There's a book about pirates with a CD of this song but it's slightly different and the last line is "it's apirate's life for me" instead of "over the Irish sea" and some other changes - I'd never heard it till we bought it with CD a couple of weeks ago as ds1 currently obsessed with pirates

BikeRunSki · 14/08/2009 23:02

I HATE "Wind the Bobbin Up". Completely irrational, and DS is only 11 months old.

"Jkllp" is the spaceman one yoru DS sings "Five little men in a flyimng saucer" ? - flew round the world one day. They looked left and right, and the didn't like the sight, so one man flew away. Four little men etc... One little man in a flying saucer, flew round the world one day, he looked left and right and he quite liked the sight, so he decided to stay.

Actiosn for 5, 4 etc, fly round the world, looking left and right.

ExtraFancy · 14/08/2009 23:03

When he was younger he LOVED 'We went to the Animal Fair' - a big 'Wheeee! down your knees for the elephant's trunk

oh I just sing and dance along to any song I like. My dc are far too young to think its rubbish / pathetic / embarrassing. They are enthralled by my talents. And they join in

Loads of good ideas here which I will look up on You Tube and pinch.

Don't think anyone's mentioned 5 little ducks.

dd likes

Five little men in a flying saucer
Flew round the world one day
They looked left and right and didn't like the sight
So one man flew away-WHOOOSH

and this one

Up the tall white candlestick (creep hand up opposite arm)
Went little mousy Brown
Right to the top(go to top of opposite hand)
But he couldn't get down!
So he shouted "Grandma, grandma"(cup hands over mouth)
But he couldn't get down!
So he curled himself into a ball (self explanatory)
And rolled right down!(do this really fast!)

and

Five little speckld frogs

and

"A hedgehog is VERY prickly,a hedgehog is vvey prickly a hedgehog is very prickly....he couldn't be anything else!" you can add a whole host of animals and characteristics to this one, whilst depicting the animal of your choice!

Plus a lot of others mentioned.

Run rabbit,run rabbit also

and

"Peter rabbit's got a fly upon hs nose,
Peter rabbits got a fly upon his nose
peter rabbits got a fly upon his nose
and he flipped it and he flapped it and the fly flew away!" to the tune of Glory, glory hallelujah!

I do loads of rhymes and actions with my youngest as she is pretty non verbal and relates well to music.

The guy who did the Dear Zoo book(cant remember name) has a lovely lift the flap rhyming book which is great.

plonker · 14/08/2009 23:24

Anonymum, you must watch the Tweenies
