Help! I'm fed up of being covered in poo!

I have a 4-week old baby boy who has such an explosive bottom that I am regularly covered in poo! As soon as I hear that familiar splodge, I have to change him within 30 seconds or face curry sauce dripping through his nappy, (it has gone through 2 layers of clothing, a grobag and bedsheet in a matter of minutes). I am using Huggies or Pampers nappies and never had this problem with my daughter. Why can't these nappies cope?? Anyone have any tips. I am forever buying stain removers. Help!

Are you breastfeeding? Those liquidy bf poos are lethal but it gets better as they get older.

He's not got a tummy bug has he?

Try different nappies. I had to keep switching with DS although wound up in real nappies in the end. But the fit around the legs of the disposables make a big difference.

Try supermarket own brand or Nature babies - I've always found them a good fit

Is your baby BF or formula fed?
BF baby poo is explosive yuk until they solids are introduced

If he is formula fed it is just possible with poo that bad he could be lactose intolerant - My ds is 7 and has recently become lactose intolerant again (lactose is the milk sugar in cows milk) and urgh it is disgusting!

Runny yukky poo is usual in wee babies though perhaps not that yukky

When you fit the nappy don't pull it up tight. Make sure there is a bit of room at the back like a little pouch, but tight around the legs. Had this problem with DD2 and got this tip from a friend. It actually made a difference - sometimes anyway. I don't think there's any foolproof method.

Dont panic about my post btw (I have been dealing with a lot of poo from a 7 year old this week, its on my mind shall I say!)

If it is constantly very disgusting and you are at all concerned (rather than fed up of poo!) Id ask your hv or gp

have you checked that he is in the right size of nappy for his age?

Another solution - get some nappy wraps like they have for re usable nappies and fit over the top - we use a mixture of disposable and re-usable but always use a wrap - fingers crossed we have not had any accidents that bad yet and believe me the amount of poo that comes out of one small bottom is amazing. I took him to be weighed the other day the HV said he was getting too big and to watch the curve (rubbish really he is only 6 weeks) when came home he did a massive massive poo - the next week his weight had stayed the same so HV was funny again - I just take no notice really. Anyway I digress - good luck.
