I have an Upsy Daisy issue

DD1 has taken to this nasty little stuffed Upsy Daisy that we won at a fun fair. She carries her around everywhere including when she goes to the loo, and Daisy comes into our bed every morning. Sometimes DD even makes me sing the Upsy Daisy song. How do I get rid of Daisy without upsetting DD?

Most kids have something they cling on to. Be thankful it's something as easily replaceable as Upsy Daisy

at least she is replacable, syndicated, well-known and has a song

dd has a favourite character from a long-running bedtime story saga (originally devised by DH) and, on seeing Upsy Daisy / Peppa / Maisie / Thomas stuff in the shops will often demand [said character] on yoghurts, wellies etc.

and we have had to make up a song for him too
and a bunch of friends

NB I cannot type his name as it would be instantly googleable

dont worry about it too much - my DD is currently attached to a PG tips beanie hat (the grey one with the monkey on the front)

Upsy Daisy is nothing. At music group dd's little beanie doll was prised out of her hands by an envious little friend and replaced with what I can only describe as Chucky's baby sister. Her eyes had been gouged out and she had no hair. Now that was seriously freaky and dd's face was a perfect replica of

dd1 had a grotty chewed Upsy Daisy that went everywhere for about 6 months. Then replaced by the elephant from Winie the Poo, then replaced by LaLa and now it is Timmy the sheep. I still have to sing the damn song though - grrrrrr

We bought a teddy for DD when I was pregnant. I heard the term "Cuntpickle" on here and somehow it stuck as the teddy's name.

It was fine and funny when it was just me and DH and an oblivious newborn, but we had to re-name it Pickle as soon as we twigged that she might be starting to listen to speech.

phd, I have found 'she'll be coming round the mountain' a good solution to all bizarre song requests, particularly weird combinations (eg 'Pingu bike song!' results in 'Did you ever see a penguin ride a bike? etc')

people who pass us out in the pushchair think we're mad, obviously, but these things can't be helped

Once upon a time we lost "frog", DD1 and I searched and searched the park but we'd lost DD2's beloved "frog". We went to the shop only to be told that the last three frogs in the British Isles had been tracked down already by a more intrepid mother. The additional information bit on their system apparently had the comment "urgent: customer unable to sleep for three days".

DD2 has moved on emotionally and now loves "bear" with humbling intensity but I think DD1 and I are still scarred. DD1 still says "that's where we lost frog" in her dark voice when we pass the park.

Although I think I may need to work on the names thing more...we also have a dog called "uff", a "sheep, sheep" and "rilla" the gorilla.

LOL at all these stories. DD has a baby doll called.... guess what? Baby!

DH is very good at making up songs but DD will shout 'don't sing to me!', she prefers mummy's out of tune singing

Oh and the imaginary monsters seem to have invaded our house too. I blame nursery!

What's cuntpickle?

I think it was just used as a general insult, probably about somebody's useless husband. I have no idea why it got adopted as a name for the special teddy.
