Just checking....in the parenting rule book does it say its compulsory to love your child all the time and is it ever ok to sell them at a car boot sale?

As I sink into a large glass of tia maria with a splash ok coke - now the little cherubs are safely tucked up in bed - I'm starting to wonder what I could fetch for ds1 - 4yrs - if I took him to the local car boot at the weekend!!!

We had a lovely, very busy weekend with lots of child friendly activities. So I know he's just tired and stressed by disruption in routine. But he's bitten his little brother really hard twice and tried to bite me countless times.

I know deep, deep, down I must really love him but it's going to take a few more Tia Maria's to dig down that far :-). Similar tales of troublesome pre-schoolers very welcome.

Jeez, you're patient. I'm just tired of super energetic 4 y o DS never fucking listening to me.

Am about to sink into a bombay saphire and tonic, by the way.

We have had a lovely child friendly weekend - entirely ruined by my dd (3.11) refusing to do ANYTHING we ask, and usually doing the opposite - especially fond of legging it in busy places.
I am starting to think it might be easier to keep 4 kids in the house for the rest of the summer.
If anyone would buy her i would sell her, but everyone would scarper!
She did just come downstairs to get her dolly Miriam, and was very sweet and said goodnight and was lovely, but she is probably pouring my shampoo down the loo.
Why dont they b;oody listen and just do as they are told!

thanks guys it makes me feel better. am venturing out to the zoo with ds1 and ds2 tomorrow. i must be mad. might take a hip flask for sneaky pick me ups - joke, honest.

mine will be up at 6. it doesn't matter how little sleep they've had they still get up. why why why - if your tired, bloody stay in bed and go back to bed - don't wake me up and whinge about it.

i have a 2yo singing from top of her lungs in her bedroom. god help when she learns the catch on her gate. how 3yo got to sleep through the 51st chorus of wheels on bus i have no idea.

Goblin - not much meat on him unfortunately because he never ever stops moving. ds2 on the other hand is a proper little porker and would fetch a princely sum....tempted.....getting more tia maria while i think about it....

I think you have to love them all the time (this part isn't hard), but you don't have to like the way they behave all the time.

Our local carboot never sells anything for more than 30p so while I'm at the end of my tether with DS1, I know that it makes no business sense to sell him at a loss .

I do think they get a vaccination against good behaviour in the last week of term or something. DD has been a nutcase all bloody week - it's like she's high!!!

What's worse is DS who has just turned one is copying every noise she makes so they have screaming contests continually. ARRRGGH.

Resorted to noise cancelling headphones today and just let them get on with it.

car boot sale is a good idea.ebay is no good because of couriers wont take them and im not sure about royal mail.

I used to sneak into his bedroom just before I went to bed, so that I could look at his sweet and immobile body and remind myself that I did love him.

he's a teenager now, bed by 10.30 and up at 10.30 in the holidays. The noise level has dropped too.

well in the last week dd2 also 4yrs has wee'd on my new sheepskin rug, wee'd on my sofas, wee'd on her sisters bed. She has poured juice over my new sheepskin rug and over sofas.
Neither dd1 or dd2 have gone to bed without trashing their room, singing, dancing, fighting and constantly going to the bathroom and back.

What about the constant litter and detritus of 'stuff' just left everywhere (and the constant picking up after them). Do they make more or less mess when they are teenagers?

ok - have got 2nd tia maria and a couple of ferrero rochers for good measure - it was my b'day at weekend. Checked on sleeping darlings and feel motherly love restored.

Hearing your stories reassures me that my boys don't have terrible mental health issues after all and are just normal pre-schoolers.

Mine too try to out scream each other and a new favourite is arguing without using proper words - they seem to be using some weird language that escalates in volume and tone until they are nearly killing each other.

DS1 has developed a new habit (new this past fortnight) of coming to me and saying 'DS2 did this' and then repeating the injury upon himself, e.g. hair-pulling, chest-thumping. Did it not hurt enough the first time?

Not if you train them right when small.
Mine use laundry baskets, take turns washing up and don't letter the place.
However, I've never made a threat that I wasn't prepared to carry through. And have done on numerous occasions.

I have occasionally contemplated 'free to a good home' as being a good deal in avoidance of future cost, though .
