do you listen to your DCs breathing whilst asleep???

me and DH just been having a good laugh.
when DCs were smaller and he checked on them before we were going to bed - he used to go really close to them and make sure they were breathing ok.
i have only just realised that he no longer does this and assume it made him feel happy that they were well.
does anyone else do this - or is my DH odd?

BTW i check on them too, but mine is more of a quick look and then i'm gone

I did when they were babies and I still do now. Dd is 7 and a half, ds1 is nearly 6 and ds2 is 2 and a half.

Oh god, I go one further and put my hand on their chest if they are breathing quietly...just to make sure......

Washersaurus I do that with DS - he is only 12 months though

Well, DS2 is only 2yo next week, so its not like he's a teenager or anything

No I go downstairs and open a bottle of gin.

I put my hand on their back to check - and don't move it until I feel it go up and then down. Do this to all the children I babysit for upto the age of 10 or so unless they are talking,moving,snoring or farting whilst I'm in the room

Yes. I do it every night with DD (15 months) and occasionally with DS (4).

I used to do that when I was nannying, sometimes I'd prod him jut to make sure. In my defense he did once have a seizure and was unconcious in my arms so am very slightly over protective of him, even now when I see him.

It is the last thing I do every night! And temp check, make sure they are under appropriate amount of duvet, right way round in bed and away from any dressing gown cords or other entanglements.

Then I can sleep .

Ds is 5 and I do it every night. Probably will until he leaves home .

DC are 7 and 5 and I do it last thing every night. I love camping when we all squash in together and I can see and hear them sleeping.

I check every night before I climb into bed - sadly I often climb in and have a little cuddle before I go to bed as well, they are sound sleepers, and it is all for me

I still do this and mine are almost 5 and 20 months. I will even prod them gently if they aren't breathing loudly enough for my satisfaction.

DS is 10 and I have done this more recently than I care to admit!

I do this every night too.

DD1 is nearly 3 and sometimes still co-sleeps but i check her wherever she is. Have to adit, i like her co-sleeping so she is easy to check throughout the night.

DD2 is nearly 7 months and still in the bedside cot. Nights when we are all in the same room are the best...

They were both early babies and began life with apneoa of prematurity so we were addicted to the machines that monitored the to check they were still breathing - eventually we learnt to spot when they were going blue!

I imagine I will still be checking them until they leave home

I used to sleep holding my DDs hand (she was in cot next to our bed) and would frequently wake to put my hand on her chest to check she was still breathing. I still check her (she's now 8) - I guess I'll stop when she locks me out of the bedroom!

Mine are (nearly) 7 and 5 and I still won't go to bed until I'm happy they're breathing. And tucked in and snug and cosy.
