5 month old sleeping too much??

My 5 month old ds usually has an hour nap in the morning and then a big sleep at lunch. Since saturday he's slept from 10 to 2. Wakes for a bit to feed then sleeps again for most of the afternoon. He seems happy enough, wet nappies etc. It is very hot at the moment, could this be the reason? He's my 3rd dc, you'd think I know not to worry!

Is he sleeping ok at night? If so I wouldn't mess with it, as long as he is otherwise ok. Is he very active when he is awake, learning new skills etc? It doesn't take much to tire them out at this age, as you will remember!

My DD used to sleep like that. She was still having a 3-4 hour nap when she was 3. Her nickname was the Calpol kid as people joked that we must be drugging her. She slept 12 hour nights too.

Now she is 5 and doesn't nap anymore but when she is overtired from school, she can go to bed at 5.30 pm and not be up until 7.30 am.

I don't think you have anything to worry about. On holidays or at family parties, my DD doesn't go to bed until late and never gets crabby and is very bright and lively.
