She is all upset at seeing Daddy in hospital yesterday & then leaving him

I think she should go but am I bein mean & hard

I think everything should be 'normal' while he is gone & that we should just carry on

But she is whinging & I am short on patience

Sorry to hear your dh isn't well. Depending on how old she is, I'd push her into going as it'll take her mind off her worries for a while.

I am sorry to hear your husband is unwell.

Why does she not want to go?
How old is your dd?

Carrying on as normal is a good thing.

However, and I dont mean to be tactless, but what is wrong with her father, is it serious, and will he recover? If it is terminal, you might want to cut her some slack.

Katymac · 05/07/2009 08:37

It's not terminal yet - but he is quite poorly

He will be in hospital (chronic lung disease) for 3-5 week (1 down only 2-4 to go)

She is 11 & I don't want her to miss out

What a great man, now, have a think - anything else you need her to do...

QuintessentialShadow · 05/07/2009 08:55

I can understand your dd is worried, must be very hard for you all. Good job she was persuaded to go. Now, breathe!

Katymac, sending get well wishes to your DH and hugs to you and your DD for having such a tough time.
Good luck to your DD and her sailing.
I grew up in Norfolk btw. It's my favourite place.

It's day 3 of a course at Filby

I kept bursting into tears while explaining to the tutors

It would have been so much easier to keep her at home - but not fair to her

Well done - I bet she has a great day.

Katymac · 05/07/2009 12:10

I went up at 11 & she seemed fine

I have bribed her with a meal out later......if she stays after lunch
